The Rose Bowl was hot this weekend, but the treasures we found were even hotter!!!

On Jessica's couch you'll spy 3 lumps resting atop her eclectic mix of throws. Starting from the left is her lucky find, a grain sack pillow she just couldn't resist! Beside that is her raccoon pillow (thanks Ebay). Finally there's Cash, one of her two long-haired chihuahua's. Maybe someone should tell him that's not Leroy..laying..next to him?

ps. Her obsession with fur pillows has perpetuated a DIY patchworking project (F U Ebay she's crafty). Soon to be blogged about!

And when we found out fellow LA designer Shay Todd was hosting a party with Nivea, we slathered on our sunscreen and hit the pool party with gusto. But nothing, and we really really mean NOTHING could have made us more happy than to see a gorgeous blonde wearing the tie dye Suburbia dress.

All it took was the removal of her Miu Miu sunglasses to invite in the compliments of a group of dudes at the local breakfast spot. There is something about wearing Leyendecker that ALWAYS warrants compliments from strangers. We just died when we heard this incredible story from our friend, Zoe.

"Obviously clad in Leyendecker, I arrived arrived early, before my friend, and took a spot next to a group of boy hipsters and as soon as my sunnies came off, one of the guys (who had amazing style) leaned towards me and was like, 'Hey you must be in fashion, that is such an amazing top.' I looked surprised because I'm actually not at all in the fashion industry and I told him so. Then his friend said 'Oh, are you a musician? An artist? A writer?' I sell pharmaceuticals, so no. But I asked 'so all this because of my top?' and they, as a group, all agreed 'It's hot.' It was super cute to see this group of hipsters humbled and honest and well, cute! All thanks to the power of a super cute crochet top."

Two's Better Than Anything: Our Favorite Two-fers

Versatility is part of our design theory. Day or night. Dress up or down. Winter or summer. But we're also really really digging two-fers. As in, wearing one piece two very different ways. Like, backwards or forwards. Our long sleeved Reversible Crochet and Lace Mini Dress is just one ejemplo of our idea of a perfect-o two-fer. We're pretty sure that Two is not only better than one, but that it's better than anything.

Obvi, we love Leopard print. Who doesn't? But for Spring, we wanted to find a leopard that didn't look too heavy, dark, or Fall-ish, so we looked to, (where else?) winter. Bright whites and light greys mixed with black - that's the kind of leopard we want to wear in the warmer months. And so, we found a super femme and fab snow leopard print silk fabric and it's been blowing off the shelves of Barney's and the like. LOVE snow leopard.

And theeeeeennnn, we found THIS. A snow leopard BIKINI. OMObsessed.

It's from a cool line called Tavik and we just love the unusual box-cut top (we do that a lot) and sexy briefs (once an oxymoron, it's not anymore, thanks to Tavik).

Will you be in bathing suit for the Memorial Day weekend? You bet both of us will be twinsies in this baby.

So yes, we have a strong and irresistible obsession with Chihuahua's. Mostly our own Chichi's, but Chiuahua's in general just strike us as the most uber cutest pups on the planet that we inexplicably cannot get enough of. So is it coincidence (Kismet? Luck? Chance?) that of all the lip glosses on the planet (there are roughly 3 million, in our guesstimates), we've fallen for one called Chihuahua? The perfect nude, NARS has formulated a non-gooey gloss that complements every single skin shade and every single Chihuahua lover and even Chihuahua haters!

How to Wear It: The Sleeveless Trench

We created this sleeveless trench dress out of a desire for functionality. It has that safari-like feel, super luxurious silk fabric, and a cut that actually offers for more than a few ways of wearing it. In our lookbook, we styled the Spring piece as a dress, knotted at the waist and all on its own. Which is great! Obviously. But just in case it gets lonely and wants the company of other clothes, here are 4 more ways to wear it:

1. Replace your work blazer:

Wear open and tie the belt in the back and pair with a low-cut scoop tank and long flared trousers with your favorite platforms.

2. Instead of a boyfriend cardigan:

Let the belt hang down and unbutton the piece. Super skinny jeans and a beat up, oversized tee with oxfords or moto boots complete the look.

3. Over another dress:

We love playing with hem lengths and urge creativity with this. Open and over a maxi and with your favorite summer sandals, it's sure to be a hit.

4. Go glam:

Deck out this trench with a fancy pair of metallic sandals, woven leather clutch and glamorous cocktail jewelry for an unexpected style statement at your next cocktail party. Oh, and, cinch that belt super tight.

5. Fall for layering options:

We can't wait to transition the trench dress into our fall wardrobes. We'll wear a thick cashmere sweater underneath it, as well as grey opaque tights, and pair it with a leopard scarf ankle boots.

"The sheer dress is an eye catcher for sure, wherever you are, and I had happily taken in many envious glances from girls and raised eyebrows from boys all day. But I was leaving a busy Starbucks where a group of men were hanging out at a table just outside the door. These guys were in their 30s and 40s and not the kind of men who you'd think would cat call. But the oldest one stopped mid sentence, pulled his sunglasses down his nose, and yelled out as I walked by 'My, my that's a pretty dress. A VERY pretty dress.' Of course, all the men at the table proceeded to look at what he was talking about and all of them had something to say about it. But all of them agreed 'A very pretty dress.' And they were right! I can't believe how fast this year has flown by! Mars' birthday is December 26th, which proved to be a difficult day to celebrate due to the holiday season! So this weekend was a celebration of Mars turning 1yr old. I'd always heard great reviews of WOOF Dog Boutique in Atwater Village, but I had no idea what was in store for us!

The boutique is jam packed full of goodies. I loved the abundant selection of sweaters, parka's, bedding, etc. They also have a great selection of party attire and accessories for your little pup, but then...then there was the dog bakery. It "took the cake"! ba dum chhh

The ski and snowboarding season is in full force with the Sundance Film

Festival just around the corner. Lovers and haters of Valentine's Day will soon be throwing soiree's in the name of l'amour. Of course the most important to Leyendecker is Fashion Week in New York...although the Academy Awards dresses are a must see as well! Lastly, dance your tax troubles away in Indio at Coachella's Music Festival in April.

We often discuss our obsessions with piranha's and taxidermy. See if you can spot the piranha in our blog heading! With PIRANHA 3D coming out on August 27th, I felt it was only right to dedicate a post to this toothy little subject.

My fascination with piranha's began as a child after I saw the original PIRANHA, which was made in 1978. Jessica has had an obsession with taxidermy since birth, so of course I saw it necessary to buy her a taxidermied piranha for Hanukkah the first year we met. Match made in heaven I'd say!

ps. Keep them out of dogs reach! I've had one go missing...honest.

some recent revelations…birds prefer to shit on newly washed cars. do we do traffic school for a rolling stop ticket? not that i have one, just, ummm, hypothetical i spend an inordinate amount of time on 1stdibds.com gazing at brutalist paul evans pieces- that i can’t afford. the frozen tomyum soup from trader joes, may rival that in, well, thailand. this may be the coldest summer in socal history…will it break 75 already?!

Taking an innovative approach to designing timeless garments, Jessica Moss and Lisa Guajardo are redefining fashion as a wearable art form. "One of the things that draws us to fashion is the functional aspect of it all. We make things that are worn, not hung on a wall. The trick is making it artistic and interesting at the same time," says Guajardo. "It’s not sitting in someone’s home; its out in the world for everyone to see," adds Moss. "So as an art form, fashion is exciting in a way that most art isn't. The day-to-day exposure is just insane." Besides artistic edge, what makes the duo’s L.A.-based line, Leyendecker, so appealing is its attainability. With a reasonable price point and an ample list of retailers, the designers make it easy to score a piece from their collection.

Leyendecker formed in 2005 when Moss and Guajardo became neighbors, bonding over their common love for long-haired Chihuahuas. “Our dogs would have play dates,” says Guajardo. “We were each designing our own lines at the time and always talked about doing something together.” One night they officially agreed to start their line—and a star was born. Since its inception, Leyendecker has been focused on breathing new life into familiar silhouettes. From a silk a-line skirt bound together by thin straps at cutout sides, to a sheer wool-gauze tank with a splash of tribal print, each piece has a stand-out feature while remaining minimalist enough to layer and carry through each season. “We try to get juxtaposing aesthetics to coexist harmoniously in the same garment. In a way, our clothes are never only one thing—they have dimension,” explains Moss. “Every season it’s something new. We get obsessed with certain details and try to explore that detail to its limit,” notes Guajardo. The detail they’re obsessing over for Spring 2011? Romance. We’re already swooning.

2. Found My Animal – Adjustable Rope Leash – “We love how Old World and archaic this leash is; the brass hardware just makes it so industrial. Also, 25% of proceeds go toward the Louis Animal Foundation and all the leashes are stamped with the number of animals they’ve found homes for.”

3. Dr. Martens for Opening Ceremony – Lily Velcro Sandal – “The unexpected combination of clog heel and strappy printed pony hair makes for a great transitional shoe.”
